About Me:
Gymnastics Career
At 6 months old, I did not know I was beginning the start of my gymnastics career. My mom enrolled me at The Little Gym and my love for the sport began there. By the time I was 16 months old, my mom was encouraged to enroll me at the local gymnastics club. Although, I was not old enough to be in class, the director was impressed by my ability to follow directions, and I received an override for the Mommy and Me class for children 18 months - 3 years old.
When I was 3 years old, I was invited to join the twinkle stars class (pre-team). I trained with that program until I was 5 years old and I was invited to join the level 3 gymnastics team. I competed artistic gymnastics from the ages of 6 - 11 (levels 3 - 7).
COVID brought many changes for my program and ultimately challenged my love for artistic gymnastics. During the pandemic, I watched a college acro meet (Baylor vs Oregon) and I was immediately intrigued. At the age of 11, I decided to switch from artistic gymnastics to acrobatic gymnastics.
My first season 2020 - 2021, I competed in a level 8 pair as a top and won States, Regionals and Nationals. Fun Fact: My first partner is currently a member of Baylor Acro and Tumbling.
2021- 2022 - I transitioned to a level 10 trio as a top and finished 5th at Nationals
2022 - 2023 - I transitioned to a base and competed in an 11-16 trio and we won States, Regionals and Nationals. We were named to the USAG International Development Team (IDT)
2023 - 2024 - My trio competed as a 12 -18 trio, and we finished 3rd at Nationals.
2024 - 2025 My trio again competed 12-18 and were named to the Junior National Team (JNT) in January 2025. We were awarded the 2024 - 2025 12-18 Trio of the Year for Region 7 (May 2025)
International Competitions
2023 - Budapest - USAG IDT
2024 - Poland - International Elite
2025 - Belgium - USAG JNT
2025 - Bulgaria - USAG JNT
Currently, I train at International Elite Acrobatics. I am current member of the USAG Junior National Team in a 12 - 18 Women’s Group. I practice Sunday - Thursday for a total of 18.5 hours a week. I also attend International Clinics and National Team Camps. My head coach is Sarah Thomas.
Education
I am a rising Junior at the Maret School in Washington, DC. Maret is an Independent Private K -12 School, and I have attended since kindergarten. I currently have 4.0 GPA. Due to the academic rigor at Maret, our school does not offer AP’s, so my GPA is unweighted.
Attending a K-12 is unique but special. Having the benefit of developing emotionally and academically on the same campus has been super rewarding. I have close relationships with my friends and feel comfortable interacting with my teachers and other staff members. I really enjoy being creative and love my art classes.
I am the photo editor on the Woodley Leaves (our newspaper) and I am member of the Black Student Association. My demanding gymnastics schedule prevents me from participating in activities after school, but I participate in all activities that occur outside of my gymnastics schedule.
I enjoy attending school sporting events, attending school dances, going out to dinner, watching movies and just having fun with my friends.
My Family and Hometown
I live in Upper Marlboro, MD with parents and little brother. My father is Myron Martin (50) and he works at the Pentagon. My mother is Aisha Martin (48) and she owns her own private mental health clinic. My brother, Dallas is 14 years old and is an artistic level 9 gymnast. Our schedules are pretty busy with two children in gymnasts. It is on the rare occasions that everyone is home we enjoy playing family board games and watching movies. My brother and I have both been gymnasts since a very young age, so our summers have been spent training. When we have our annual week off of the gym in the summer we enjoy going to beach, traveling to tropical destinations and going to amusement parks.
Upper Marlboro is located in Prince Georges County, Maryland. It adjacent to Washington, DC and a 15-minute drive to Virginia. My parents were both raised in Delaware, and we are just 3 hours away from Delaware beaches. It is such a great place to live and true definition of “suburban”. What is unique about my county is that it is the largest and the most affluent African American-majority county in the United States.
When I am not at school or at practice, I enjoy jumping on my trampoline, walking outside or riding my skateboard. I also enjoying being creative and often draw or paint. I also enjoy print modeling and acting in commercials.
I have a 4-year-old Bernedoodle name Bruno who loves my stomach rubs.
